Power of Mentoring

Director/Producer/Editor: Amy Lawday

Cinematographers: James Matthew Daniel

Produced for: Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC

What happens when a boy grows up with a single mother, no father, in a tough inner city neighborhood where bad influences lurk at every corner? Many of them fall prey to drugs, low school attendance, poor grades and no future. Meet one such boy: Justin, age:16, living in Queens, NY. Thanks to a mentoring organization, Justin has been matched him with a mentor, Paul, who spends time with Justin, plays football, does homework with him and, most importantly, talks to him from the heart. This film tells the story of how Paul is guiding Justin through the hurdles of male adolescence and has given Justin’s mother the life-line she needed.
